Installing the Source Package on Mac OS X |
It should be fairly easy to install Report Magic from source on
Mac OS X 10.2 and later. You can use the fink
command
to install all the necessary packages including Report Magic itself.
To start with you need to download the Report Magic fink script from the Report Magic Add-on's page.
You will have to enable support for "unstable" packaged to allow this to
work, as the lastest gd-pm package (used for graphics) are not classified as
stable. You can do this from Fink Commander by selecting the "use unstable
preferences" option under the "fink" tab. If you are not using Fink Commander,
you can probably achieve this by adding "unstable/main" to the list on the
"Trees:" line in your /sw/etc/fink.conf
file.
Now use fink
to install with this simple command:
fink install rmagic
That should install all the dependent packages and have a working copy of Report Magic for you.
To test your installation, from the Command Prompt, change to the directory where Report Magic was installed and run it:
./rmagic.pl
This should build a set of sample reports in the folder reports/
using the sample configuration and data included in the package. Check for any
error messages and look at the reports in your browser to make sure they look
right. If everything is as expected, you can begin
building your own configuration.
Within the archive are documentation files in a folder called docs
.
From your web browser open the file index.html
to learn how to use
Report Magic. In the Report Magic directory is also a file called
README
. Please see this file for last-minute changes.
